The continent’s most anticipated design event, 100% Design Africa, returns to the Sandton Convention Centre from 24–27 July 2025, co-located with Decorex Joburg – Africa’s flagship décor, design, and lifestyle event. With a bold theme of “Local Design, Global Vision,” the 2025 edition promises to be the most immersive yet, featuring curated pavilions, global collaborations, future-focused dialogues, and trailblazing African creativity.
Celebrating a fusion of contemporary design, cultural storytelling, and future-forward thinking, 100% Design Africa 2025 will unfold across four curated pavilions: Local, International, Materials, and Capitec handmadeAFRICA, alongside the compelling Future Talks and the visionary new showcase Women in Design, curated by Bilala Mabuza.
“Africa’s design voice is not just emerging—it’s setting the tone for global design conversations,” says Bilala Mabuza, curator of Women in Design and founder of Cocoon Lifestyle Studio. “This year’s showcase is a tribute to women who have dared to shape African identity through innovation, legacy, and global relevance.”

Capitec handmadeAFRICA Pavilion: Craft Meets Luxury
Showcasing 10 high-end brands across the continent, from Morocco to Botswana to South Africa, the handmadeAFRICA Pavilion celebrates luxury craft, heritage, and innovation. It’s a tribute to the timeless art of hand-making, redefined for today’s world.
Local Design Pavilion: Bold Creativity, Rooted in Culture
This pavilion highlights standout designers like:
- Casamento & Coral Stephens – with ‘The Field’ armchair set, an ode to slow design.
- Ananta Design Studio – featuring Purna, beaded vases inspired by abundance.
- Han + NISH – unveiling the OLIO Wall Sconce, a sculptural lighting piece.
- Mash.T Design Studio – debuting the nostalgic Smiley Pendant.
- Clout/SA x Nando’s HYD – launching Thread Collection Chapter 1.
- Urbanative – presenting the elegant Raha Daybed.
- Indigenus x Fernando Mastrangelo – showcasing the sculptural Petra Planters.
- Stuart Graham Fabrics – bridging decorative heritage and modernity.
- uMugqa Studio – introducing functional, narrative-driven furniture.

International Design Pavilion: Global Perspectives, African Stage
Featuring global names including:
- Nosso (Brazil) – with colour-rich heritage décor.
- Créma Design (Cape Town) – bringing Gubi, Flos, HAY, and Muuto to Johannesburg.
- Ligne Roset (France) – avant-garde furniture since 1860.
- ErgoKonzept – ergonomic steel systems with industrial precision.
Materials Pavilion: Innovation from the Ground Up
Co-curated by Alan Hayward and Garreth van Niekerk, this space reimagines material intelligence across Africa.
Featured designers include:
- Sett & Beat – using local fibres and botanical dyes in artisanal textiles.
- Wolkberg Casting Studios – introducing Limesite™, a concrete-based marvel redefining architectural finishes.

Future Talks: What’s Next in Design
Included with every ticket, this CPD-accredited daily series invites you to hear from:
- Charles O Job, Decorex Designer of the Year, sharing a decade of cross-continental innovation.
- Federica Sala – curating for Milan Design Week and Centre Pompidou, demystifying global fair selections.
