“We have always drawn inspiration from nature, and for this collection I wanted to honour the animals that roam the forests, rivers, and mountains of the north,” explains Patrick Mavros Jnr, who sculpted the pieces. “From the noble stag to the playful red squirrel, each design captures the spirit of the wild in silver – a way of keeping these creatures close, no matter where you are in the world.”
For the Mavros family, Animals of the North is also a reflection of curiosity, heritage, and belonging. “Our family is equally fascinated by the environments of the north as those of the south,” says Alexander Mavros. “We didn’t grow up surrounded by these landscapes in our day-to-day lives, but we were very privileged to have spent much time in these northern habitats – growing a deep love and respect for the animals that call them home. There’s a quiet resonance here, one that has always inspired us.”
He adds: “Though our roots are firmly in Africa, we are a family business with boutiques in London, Mauritius, Nairobi, Victoria Falls, Cape Town and beyond. Our clients come from every corner of the globe. We wanted to create a collection that acknowledges that we are all global citizens – where you reside today may not be where your roots are from, but the natural world is something we all share.”
