ILTM Africa 2025 has wrapped up its most impactful edition to date, setting a new benchmark for luxury travel networking and showcasing Africa’s ascent as a leader in the global luxury travel sector. Held at the iconic Norval Foundation from 6–8 April, the event delivered on its theme ‘Ignite Africa’, offering a seamless fusion of curated cultural experiences, meaningful dialogue, and world-class hospitality.
Serving as the official opening to Africa Travel Week, ILTM Africa unveiled its State of the Industry Report, providing strategic insights into the trends shaping luxury travel across the continent.
Over 1,700 pre-scheduled appointments—a 25% increase from 2024—facilitated high-value connections between African luxury travel providers and top-tier international buyers from 36 countries, with many resulting in immediate bookings and long-term partnerships.
“This year’s event has truly exceeded all expectations,” said Carol Weaving, Managing Director at RX Africa. “With a 90% new buyer attendance and a 38% growth in total buyers, it’s clear that the world is increasingly turning to Africa for luxury experiences that are authentic, bold, and transformative.”

A significant 38% increase in exhibitors from last year and participation from buyers and exhibitors representing 34 countries—including 13 first-time nations—underscored the expanding global footprint of African luxury.
The Norval Foundation, with its rich tapestry of contemporary African art, served as more than just a venue; it offered delegates a thought-provoking atmosphere that elevated conversations around identity, storytelling, sustainability, and the future of luxury travel.
Standout moments included:
- Vintage sidecar chauffeur rides through Cape Town (courtesy of Cape Sidecar Adventures)
- Elegant networking functions at landmark locations
- Eco-luxury showcases from sustainable vendors like What We Cherish and The Joinery
- The Art for Conservation campaign, featuring exclusive artwork by Leandri Erlank, raising funds for the protection of African wild dogs through Painted Wolf Wines
The synergy between ILTM Africa and WTM Africa, which concluded today at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, cemented Cape Town’s position as a global stage for tourism excellence.
“The seamless transition from ILTM to WTM Africa showcases not only the strength of Cape Town as a host city but also the maturity of Africa’s luxury and tourism sectors. Together, we are redefining the narrative of Africa as a world-class, sustainable travel destination,” Weaving concluded.
