The South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA) delivered clothing, food and other necessities to communities around the Manyoni Game Reserve in Zululand last week. Two of South Africa’s leading brands donated the goods, which will be distributed by local community leaders (IzinDuna).
A who’s who of South African sport, including SARLA CEO Stefan Terblanche, Wayne Fyvie, Justin Swart, Etienne Fynn, Jeremy Thomson, Brent Russell and Henry Coxwell, all pitched in to hand over the goods.
The donations will be distributed in the Sekane, Nkukhwini, Vungame and Manyoni communities on the North Western Boundary of Manyoni Game Reserve, in support of the Zululand Conservation Trust (ZCT).
Big South African brands came on board to save the day, supplying a variety of necessities. These included 150 Bags of pyjamas (6 pieces in each bag) and 150 bags of clothing (6 pieces in each bag) from Custom Apparel, and 300 boxes of cereal from Future Life. The participating ex-players also donated some of their own clothing. The ZCT will be presenting the donations to the local IzinDuna, who will allocate items to their community members most in need.
SARLA CEO, Stefan Terblanche said, “At SARLA, we feel that working with local leadership to support their communities is vital in helping South Africa as a whole recover from the effects lockdown has had on the people. Thank you to Future Life and Custom Apparel for being so willing to assist. And big thanks to Emond Auto for driving us safely out to the local communities on very wet and slippery roads after some much needed rain in the area.”
Tyler Whittaker, Director of Custom Apparel, said, “In this challenging time for our country, it’s the responsibility of brands to give back wherever they can. We hope that our donation will make a difference in the lives of some of Manyoni’s awesome people. Thanks to Stefan and the team for making us a part of this great initiative”.
