RMB Turbine Art Fair launched its online fair on 28th August. Due to the enthusiastic support from art lovers and buyers the online fair has been extended until 13thSeptember 2020.
RMB TAF online has received over 21 000 uniuqe vistors and in excess of 600 artwork enquires to date.
“We are delighted with the support RMB TAF online has received to date. Our aim with the Fair was to support the galleries and artists in giving them a platform in which they can market themselves and their artists and drive much needed sales, especially since they have been unable to trade as a result of the lockdown,” says Glynis Hyslop, Founder RMB Turbine Art Fair.
Vistors to the fair can revisit their favorite works, as well as see new work as galleries will be uploading unseen work throughout the week.
A highlight of the RMB TAF is the extensive talks and walkabout programme featuring South African celebrities and creatives. The programme sponsored by RMB Private Bank, was recorded so that vistors can view and enjoy in their own time. The entire progamme can be viewed on https://turbineartfair.co.za/events
The Stilled Life Community Photographic project will be having an exhibition of all 100 selected works from 15th September for two weeks at 44 Stanley in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, where the final 70 works will go up for auction. The Top 30 were auctioned this week on the Strauss & Co online platform. All proceeds from the auctions will go to the BASA Artist Relief Fund. “We are delighted that we could continue to help RMB TAF create an authentically African art experience in a virtual digital format,” says Alison Badenhorst, Chief Marketing Officer at headline sponsor RMB. “Unlocking and supporting diverse young African talent demonstrates RMB’s vision to positively transform livesthrough partnering the Creative Economy.”
What our galleries and artists had to say:
“What Turbine does is create a conversation about art and artists through dealers” – Overheard in the Gallery
“On behalf of my collective I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all of you for allowing us to participate on your world class platform. Truly what a success! We could not have expected it to go any better than it did, and are so excited that it is continuing for another week. In summary, as newbies on the art scene, you each truly made us feel like such an important part of your fair and this fair (as we now hope it will be one of many in the future) will be one we will remember for the rest of our careers” – Overheard in the Gallery
“The other striking thing for me is the fact that all the art has strong elements for of what we call contemporary African art” – Wilhelm van Rensburg, Strauss & Co during his virtal walkabout of RMB TAF.
“There is an extra energy necessary for online, but the clients that are genuinely interested do buy. The digital work is selling if the price is right on line. Thank you for a great show so far and onwards and upwards” – iBi Art Gallery
