The French Champagne House is proud to support its global brand ambassador in a historic tennis match at Cape Town Stadium to benefit the Roger Federer Foundation
Moët & Chandon celebrated its global brand ambassador and legendary champion Roger Federer, on the occasion of “The Match in Africa 6”, with an intimate champagne brunch hosted in the gardens of Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town. All profits from this first-ever Federer-Nadal exhibition match in South Africa will be allocated to the Rogr Federer Foundation. As the Official Champagne of the event, Moët & Chandon is proud to lend its support to the charitable mission of its global ambassador.
Sporting champions Siya Kolisi, Ryk Neethling, rugby stars Bryan Habana, Jean de Villiers and Schalk Burger and celebrities Boity Thulo, Maps Maponyane and Ayanda Thabete were among those who raised a glass of Moët & Chandon in celebration of Roger Federer’s excellence, elegance, and altruistic engagement.
The 6th edition of the “The Match in Africa”, took place for the first time on the African continent, was held at the spectacular 50,000-seat Cape Town Stadium against the breathtaking backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain. This much-anticipated match between two tennis greats, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, offered South African fans a once-in-a-lifetime sporting experience in their home country. It will also advance an important charitable purpose, as all profits from the event are pledged to benefit the Roger Federer Foundation dedicated to improving education in rural Africa.
“Moët & Chandon is honoured to support Roger Federer in this historic edition of ‘The Match in Africa,’ as a symbol of our shared belief that success is more precious when accompanied by an unwavering generosity,” says Stéphane Baschiera, President and CEO of Moët & Chandon.
“This edition of ‘The Match in Africa’ was a dream come true,” says Roger Federer. “I played in my mother’s home country against my friend and toughest rival, Rafa Nadal. We share not just a love of tennis but also a commitment to empowering people through education. I am proud to receive the support of Moët & Chandon, a House with a long tradition of philanthropy and social responsibility. That support, to me, is the mark of a true champion.”
