TAG Heuer honours the South African national rugby team with the Springboks Limited Edition Aquaracer

Combining advanced watchmaking technology with a longstanding commitment to rugby, the avant-garde Swiss watchmaker introduces a new piece dedicated to the Springboks

Ever the pioneer, in 1892 Edouard Heuer filed the first patent for a watertight case in the history of watchmaking. It was an immediate success. Since that time the Aquaracer, a collection created in 2003, has continued to evolve, becoming a sports watch beloved by men and women alike. Also cherished by TAG Heuer, this highly technical sub-aquatic collection is synonymous with reliability, freedom and surpassing oneself. It then makes perfect sense that the iconic watchmaker would honour another icon: The Springboks.

This year, naturally a big year for the Boks, sees TAG Heuer release a brand new men’s version of the Aquaracer, this time paying homage to South Africa’s national rugby team.

Equipped with a quartz movement and water resistant to 300 metres, this sporty watch displays the iconic codes of the Aquaracer collection. It showcases, for the first time ever a green aluminium bezel, with gold-plated hour and minute hands as well as indices. It also boasts the distinctive technical characteristics of the Aquaracer collection, which have become known and trusted globally.

Featuring the prominent green and gold on the dial, this limited edition Aquaracer has the official Springboks logo at six o’clock, while the back casing is engraved with a Springbok and the logo. With only 200 in the world, it will become a collectors piece.

Some iconic Springbok players and friends of the brand have already set their sites on specific numbers, with captain Siya Kolisi wearing no.6, Blitzboks captain Philip Snyman no.7, Jesse Kriel no.13, Malcolm Marx no.2, Warren Whitely no.8 and Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira no.100.

The TAG Heuer Springbok Limited Edition Aquaracer is available now from TAG Heuer boutiques in Johannesburg’s Sandton City and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
