Located in the heart of the Kruger National Park, private and exclusive Fitzpatrick’s Lodge at Jock Safari Lodge has re-opened with a promotional rate for South African residents. The child-friendly, private camp can accommodate up to six guests in three suites and is booked on an exclusive-use basis, from R4245 per person sharing (rate valid up to 17 December 2020).
Situated on the banks of the Biyamiti River, Fitzpatrick’s presents excellent game viewing from the lodge, including regular sightings of the Big 5. Twice daily game drives are offered, as well as guided wilderness walks. The luxuriously appointed camp caters for small parties of friends or family travelling together and comes with a comfortable lounge and separate TV room, as well as indoor and outdoor dining areas, plus a private boma and swimming pool. The one unit comprises of two luxury suites with bathrooms sharing a private entrance and foyer, as well as a private deck and plunge pool. Separately located, the third suite is completely private, also boasting its own plunge pool and deck with views across the riverbed and wilderness.

Jock Safari Lodge is named after local legend, Jock of the Bushveld, the canine hero of Sir Percy FitzPatrick’s famous story of courage and loyalty that is set during South Africa’s first gold rush era. Steeped in history, Jock Safari Lodge was the first private concession granted within South Africa’s largest national park. The lodge was founded in 1982 by the Niven family, descendants of Sir Percy FitzPatrick, and today, is owned and managed by non-profit conservation organisation, the Caleo Foundation, sister property to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Little Karoo, which extends across 58, 000 hectares on the R62, three hours’ drive from Cape Town.
Taking guests on a sensory journey that encapsulates history, flora, fauna, conservation, relaxation and fine South African food and wine, Jock Safari Lodge comprises of 12 individual thatched rooms, while nearby private camp, Fitzpatrick’s at Jock caters for small parties and families with 3 luxurious suites.
The lodge is situated at the confluence of the Mitomeni (Shangaan for ‘Jackalberry Tree’) and Biyamiti (Shangaan for ‘Place of many Trees’) rivers, in the south-western corner of the Kruger National Park.
