The month of September is considered a month of hope for better treatment outcomes, for a brighter and healthier future for young cancer patients. Members of the public are urged to be the change for those going through the childhood cancer journey and for those who have been newly diagnosed. There are many ways people can get involved this September, in order to make a difference in the lives of children and teenagers who are on the cancer recovery journey.
Don’t miss out on the chance to cycle for hope!
The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA Cyclethon on Sunday, 18 September at Melrose Arch is the perfect way for you to show your support to children and teenagers who are navigating through the long and hard journey to overcome their cancer with their families. For six hours, we will be sweating, dancing, singing and, of course, cycling side by side with 159 others per hour.
However, if you think it will just be you and 159 other excited cyclists, you are mistaken. You are travelling a journey with around 1500 number of children who are diagnosed annually to help them receive augmentative care in Paediatric Oncology Units across the country. Through our CHOC programmes, you can help patients and their families have a home away from home as well as, transport, psychological and nutritional support to name a few.
